Communicating in Difficult Situations

Learning to communicate effectively with patients and colleagues

“Communicating in Difficult Situations” is customized to the needs of medical professionals.   This workshop provides instruction and practice in how to address difficult issues when dealing with patients and colleagues.

The instructor will provide participants with effective communication tools and the reasons behind them. Each skill is presented and modeled before the class engages in role-play in order to practice the skill and receive coaching from an expert.  Participants are then invited to discuss how the skill might be applied in their work environment either with co-workers or customers.

This workshop will provide your employees with the skills to:

Discover how to create a “safe” environment for communication.

Practice conveying difficult or challenging information to patients and others.

Study methods for drawing out others when they are hesitant to enter into the discussion.

State expectations regarding treatment compliance  when necessary
