About Dr. Caringer: Dr. Caringer is a Psychologist currently in private practice, specializing in Child and Adult Psychology and Neuropsychology. She is known for her work in diagnoses of learning disabilities and brain dysfunction, and for her therapeutic work in modification and treatment of behavioral problems. Dr. Caringer has been described as a “gifted diagnostician with both practical and spiritual insight.” She works with individuals to recognize their inherent gifts and skills and assists them in developing strategies that employ those gifts to achieve their goals. Her skills in the use of cognitive behavioral therapy assist the client in identifying any emotions, beliefs or behaviors that create obstacles to success, as well as those that contribute to stress and burnout.
Dr. Caringer has over 20 years of experience working in hospitals, private practice and school settings. She has served as a consultant and lecturer at hospitals, parent organizations, schools and universities. She has been an educator in the field of psychology and has provided seminars and continuing education programs for fellow psychologists, pediatricians, neurologists, optometrists and medical students. In her professional capacity, she has served as the President of the Hawaii Psychological Association and has served on national committees for the American Psychological Association. She is the recipient of state and national honors for her contributions to the practice of psychology.
